Following a competitive start that saw the participation of 24 teams from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, the Women’s Football League (WFL) group stage round has come concluded with four teams advancing to the finals. The Group stage began on November 17 and concluded in Jeddah on December 7.
A total of six matches were played in Dammam and while 21 matches took place in Jeddah and Riyadh respectively. The teams were first divided into groups following a virtual draw, with all team managers online to observe the procedure.
The league kicked off with the Group Stage matches, followed by a final game played in each city between the top-ranking team of each group to determine the City Champion. Riyadh’s Challenge, the Jeddah Eagles, and Dammam’s Eastern Flames all ranked first across the three cities. In addition to the three teams, Jeddah’s The Storm team qualified to participate in the next round as the second-best team.
The Champion’s Cup round games will commence on December 10, with the qualified teams flying into Riyadh to begin practice and preparations ahead of the semi-final and final matches.
